Serra da Bodoquena National Park (Parque Nacional da Serra da Bodoquena) shelters the largest continuous stretch of Atlantic Forest in the Brazilian interior — a region where two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves overlap: the Pantanal and the Atlantic Forest. This is the backdrop for our 2,500 m hiking trail through the forest, with eight stops to swim in natural pools and crystal-clear cascades. Each stop reveals a different waterfall until we reach the Betione River (Rio Betione), where the hike ends with a boat ride. Four hours of forest, water, and rest await, rated easy difficulty.

Serra da Bodoquena is 70 km from downtown Bonito, inside a national park that spans two UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserves: the Pantanal and the Atlantic Forest. It is the largest continuous stretch of Atlantic Forest in the country's interior, sitting at the point where both reserves converge. The two main rivers of the region, the Salobra and the Perdido, run with transparent waters that feed the waterfalls along the route.
Throughout the trail, visitors encounter the typical flora and fauna of this forest corridor, including colorful bird species. The preserved stretch of forest frames every waterfall and the final boat section.

The experience unfolds in sequence, starting in the forest and ending on the water.
We cover 2,500 m of trail through preserved Atlantic Forest at a relaxed pace. The route connects the waterfalls and natural pools, offering eight swimming stops along the way.
Along the route we visit seven named waterfalls: Pirralho, Ilha, Serra, Gruta, Figueira, Balneário, and Betione. Each has its own character, and every stop invites you into the water.
The trail section ends with a boat ride along the Betione River (Rio Betione), adding a moment on the water to the walking route. Afterward, the natural swimming area (balneario) is yours for the rest of the day.

We recommend this tour for travelers looking for variety in a single day: a light forest walk, swimming at multiple waterfalls, and time to relax afterward. Combining eight swimming stops, a boat ride, and the full infrastructure of a natural swimming area, it is an excellent choice for families and groups who want to mix activity with leisure in one program.
The natural swimming area is where the tour ends, not where it begins. Guests who are looking only for a structured pool environment without walking should know that the program includes a 2,500 m on-foot trail through the forest. The difficulty is easy, but physical effort is involved.
The trail requires closed-toe shoes with good traction, as the forest tends to be wet. For the waterfall stops, however, we recommend switching to wetsuit sandals (papete), which protect your feet in the water. If you prefer not to carry two pairs of footwear, wetsuit sandals are available to rent on-site for R$ 20.00 per pair. Life jackets are also available for rental at R$ 10.00 per unit.
Practical points to sort out before booking:
Transportation to the site is not included. We specialize in Bonito itineraries and can suggest transfer options through our consultants.
Lunch with regional dishes is included in the tour.
Guide, pre-activity safety briefing, and accident insurance are also included. With 35 years in Bonito, Bonitour makes safe planning a priority for every outing — these items are part of that commitment.
