Fazenda San Francisco
Duration8 hrs
Fazenda San Francisco began as a cattle ranch in the Pantanal — the largest floodplain in the world — long before it started welcoming tourists. The property maintains its productive character: cattle graze, ranch hands move around, and the kitchen runs at the rhythm of the countryside.
The van leaves Bonito at 5 a.m. to reach the farm in daylight, when the animals are more active. This schedule places you on the farm when the Pantanal wakes up, before the midday heat pushes the animals into the shade.
The flat-bottom boat travels through rivers and lagoons, the trail crosses the carandá palm grove, lunch comes from the farm kitchen, and the afternoon snack includes piranha broth made with the fish caught in the morning.

The farm is located 160 km from the center of Bonito, about 2 hours by road through the countryside of Mato Grosso do Sul. The property operates as a working farm — the trails follow the natural terrain, the flat-bottom boat route follows the course of the rivers, and the menu reflects regional tradition. The structure includes restrooms, showers, a swimming pool, restaurant, free parking, and Wi-Fi.

The day follows the rhythm of the Pantanal — outdoor activities during the cooler hours, a break during the heat, and a return when the sun gets lower.
The shared van leaves Bonito and follows the road to the farm. Transportation is contracted separately — shared, private, or taxi.
The flat-bottom boat navigates shallow rivers and lagoons while the guides provide instructions for the fishing activity. Anyone who fishes in the morning finds the same fish in the afternoon broth.
Lunch is included in the tour price and follows regional tradition — carreteiro rice, fish, farofa, and salad. It is the day’s break, when the heat intensifies and the swimming pool becomes a natural option.
The safari goes through open fields and forested areas where capybaras, deer, caimans, and birds appear frequently. The Carandá Trail crosses a palm formation and offers another perspective of the vegetation.
The day ends with piranha broth, prepared with the fish caught in the morning. The return to Bonito takes place in the late afternoon, after 8 hours of immersion.

This tour suits travelers who want to spend a full day in the Pantanal with the basic comfort of a farm — with no physical fitness requirement and no age or weight restriction.
For children under 5 years old, we do not recommend it — the day is long and the 5 a.m. departure does not match the routine of small children. You will regularly see caimans, capybaras, deer, and birds.

"The place is very beautiful, with lots of animals. We did the flat-bottom boat ride in the morning, and it was really nice; we saw many caimans — one came very close to the boat — as well as herons and anhingas. We also saw a black hawk; the guide threw a piece of fish and it caught it from the lake, putting on a show!"
