Projeto Jiboia
Duration2 hrs
When you read "Jiboia Project," the image that comes to mind is a dark serpentarium with glass display cases and a quick 15-minute visit. That is not what it is.
The Jiboia Project works like a classroom: you sit down, listen to a 2-hour lecture with Henrique Naufal, and learn how boa constrictors feed, how they move, and why they do not attack without reason. The courage to place the snake around your neck comes later, when knowledge has already dissolved the fear, and the selfie is the last thing that happens.
The Jiboia Project is located 2.2 km from downtown Bonito, about a 5-minute drive away. The structure includes a lecture room, terrariums with 12 boa constrictors and 1 Burmese python, a souvenir shop, restrooms, and a rest area. The space is accessible for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility.
Since 2005, the project has maintained a parallel program with schools in the region, bringing environmental education and demystifying prejudices about snakes for children and teenagers. The lecture takes place daily at 7 p.m. and lasts 2 hours. There are no age or weight restrictions.
Henrique Naufal is the speaker and the face of the project. A herpetologist and snake enthusiast, he leads the visit in a relaxed and educational way. We know the result of this work through the accounts of those who leave the lecture: visitors describe the presentation as didactic and fun, and point to the service as enriching. Those who arrive afraid tend to leave fascinated.

You arrive at the space, get your entry number, and see the terrariums. There are 12 boa constrictors and 1 Burmese python, each in its own environment. This first visual contact helps normalize the presence of the reptiles before the lecture begins.
Seated in the lecture room, you follow a 2-hour presentation about the habits, feeding, and life cycle of snakes. The tone is relaxed, but the content is dense. This is where fear begins to give way to curiosity.
At the end of the lecture, anyone who wants to can take a selfie with a gentle boa constrictor coiled around their neck. The experience is optional. We recommend taking part, but we respect those who prefer only to observe. The boa constrictor used is Henrique’s pet, known for its calm temperament.
The visit ends with access to the souvenir shop, where you can take home keepsakes from the project. The photos with the boa constrictor are part of the "I went, I saw, and I held it" section on the Jiboia Project website, a record that the initial fear gave way to curiosity. The space is located in downtown Bonito, with an easy return to hotels and inns in the central area within a few minutes.
Lecture: daily at 7 p.m., lasting 2 hours
Speaker: Henrique Naufal
Collection: 12 boa constrictors and 1 Burmese python in terrariums
Educational project with schools: active since 2005
The Jiboia Project serves those who are curious about snakes and willing to learn, with a lecture in accessible language for families and children.
Visitors who are afraid of snakes are the right audience because the 2 hours of presentation prepare them emotionally for direct contact. If the priority is learning and demystification, this tour delivers; if it is adrenaline, it is not the right choice.
The lecture starts promptly at 7 p.m. and lasts 2 hours, so it is worth organizing dinner before or after the tour.
Since the attraction is located in downtown Bonito, the travel time is short, about 5 minutes from most hotels in the central area.
We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to get your entry number and settle in.
"The Jiboia Project is wonderful! The animals are very well cared for and treated with respect and care. The professionals are qualified and attentive. There you will have a wonderful lesson with an explanation given by a veterinarian about snakes, with the right to a photo with the boa constrictor at the end. Anyone going to Bonito/MS should not miss visiting the place, as they will have a unique and unforgettable experience. Congratulations, Projeto Jiboia, for making a difference in people’s lives. 👏👏👏
