In Rio da Prata, part of the water’s transparency begins at the riverbed, where underground waters emerge to the surface along the Olho d'Água River and create a strong localized current. These resurgence points are also known there as "volcanoes".
Because we specialize in Bonito itineraries, here is what we can tell you upfront: it is not a still river, and the gentle current accompanies visitors, increasing precisely when you reach the "volcanoes".

The transparency of Rio da Prata has a concrete explanation: the high concentration of limestone along the course filters suspended particles and keeps the water clear from the beginning to the end of the route.
That is why several fish species remain visible throughout the entire snorkeling tour, including pintados, dourados and piraputangas, which are surprising because of their size.
Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata is located in Jardim/MS, 36 km from the center of Jardim and 50 km from Bonito. The snorkeling tourcovers 2,000 meters, and visitors are always accompanied by accredited guides.
📍 50 km from Bonito · ⏱ 4 hours · Difficulty: moderate

The tour has three distinct stages, and not all of them take place in the water.
The journey begins on land. Before entering the water, visitors walk a 300-meter trail among plants and native trees of the region, with guidance from the guide and equipment handover.
The gentle current carries the snorkeling tourroute, but it changes character when it reaches the resurgences: at these points, the water becomes colder and clearer, and the current increases. This contrast defines the experience.
The final 600 meters can be done aboard the Chalana do Prata II, a solar-powered vessel that takes visitors back to the farm headquarters.
The day ends with a typical Mato Grosso do Sul lunch and homemade sweets, included in the price.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────
Total duration: about 4 hours, from the guide’s briefing to the return to headquarters
Snorkeling tourroute: 2,000 meters in the Olho d'Água River
Neoprene suit and boots, mask and snorkel provided on site
Regional lunch and accident insurance included
──────────────────────────────────────────────────
We recommend Rio da Prata for those who want to see underwater life clearly and are up for a tour with its own pace, combining walking, cold water and current. The neoprene suit provided on site protects you from the cold water, so there is no need to bring special clothing.
For children, the minimum age is 5 years. The difficulty level is moderate: the current exists, is part of the experience and becomes stronger at the resurgences, which requires attention but does not demand advanced physical fitness.
Anyone with a beard or mustache should come clean-shaven whenever possible: some types and lengths of beards and mustaches can interfere with the mask seal and reduce enjoyment of the tour.
There are important medical restrictions. People with respiratory problems, heart conditions, labyrinthitis or conditions that may lead to loss of consciousness may have their condition worsened by the activity.
Transportation to the attraction is not included, but we can organize the transfer for your itinerary: speak with a consultant to see the options.
