Abismo Anhumas
Duration2 hrs
Among the Abismo Anhumas options, contemplation is the version for those who want to experience the descent of 72 meters and see the cave from the inside, but without floating or diving.
The itinerary combines about five minutes in the lift system with time to observe the underground lake and continue by boat among the limestone cones. We recommend this option for those who want to feel the scale of the place and calmly see the scenery from below, knowing that the tension is concentrated at the entrance and that the rest of the tour slows down considerably.

Abismo Anhumas Contemplation takes place in a cave that descends 72 meters, a height close to a 26-story building. This number matters because the entire entrance is vertical, but the operation uses a lift system, so visitors do not need to pull themselves up or control the descent with their body.
The route to the bottom takes around five minutes. This is the section where the height truly becomes noticeable, which is why we always advise anyone who is afraid of enclosed spaces or heights to evaluate this first part honestly before booking.
At the bottom of the abyss, the lake reaches 80 meters in depth. For those on the contemplative tour, the most important fact is not the depth itself, but what it reveals: more than 20 submerged limestone cones can be observed during the visit, along with the reflection of the walls and the silence of the cave.
Only 60 people descend per day, divided between morning and afternoon groups. In practice, this makes the experience down below much more contained than the name "abyss" might suggest.

It is a short tour by the clock, but with clearly defined stages starting the day before.
The exact descent time is confirmed at the checkpoint on the previous day, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. We recommend keeping this window free, because the attraction organizes the times according to each day's logistics.
The entrance into the cave happens in pairs, accompanied by monitors. You do not need to use strength, but you feel the change in scale in the first few minutes until your body understands that the rhythm of the visit begins there.
After arriving at the bottom, contemplation takes over the itinerary. The boat crosses the lake to observe the limestone cones, the cave walls and the shape of the water, without the technical part of the aquatic modalities.
The ascent happens using the same lift system. Upon return, the attraction's structure offers bathrooms, a rest area and parking.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────
Minimum age to participate: 5 years.
Bring a light snack and water for the tour period.
Wear swimwear underneath and bring a towel for the return.
Wear a T-shirt, long pants, long socks and closed-toe shoes.
Photography is not allowed during the descent or ascent on the vertical section.

We recommend Abismo Anhumas Contemplation for those who want to visit the attraction without a mask, snorkel or scuba tank. It is the most direct choice to see the cave up close, take the boat ride and understand the scale of the lake without turning the visit into an aquatic activity.
It also works well for families with children aged 5 and over and for those who want a short itinerary. The main filter here is not physical fitness; it is comfort with heights, the vertical entrance and the underground environment.
If your priority is to get in the water, we do not recommend contemplation. In that case, it makes more sense to look at the other Abismo Anhumas options, because this version was designed to observe the scenery and not to float or dive.
Those with a strong fear of heights will feel the beginning of the tour more than the rest of the itinerary.
The structure has accessibility, but we recommend confirming details of the route before booking.
The attraction is about 32 minutes from downtown Bonito.
