Along the banks of the Rio Salobra (Salobra River), limestone canyon walls rise up to 70 meters above the waterline (the equivalent of a 20-story building). Formed over millions of years in the Serra da Bodoquena, these canyons are the backdrop for the Caiaque Duck tour. Over 6 hours, you follow a hiking trail through typical cerrado vegetation and then descend the Rio Salobra on a duck, the inflatable kayak that lets you explore the canyon at water level. Breakfast, lunch, guide, and insurance are included in the price.

The Rio Salobra flows through the Serra da Bodoquena, 61 km from Bonito/MS and 30 km from Bodoquena, in one of the most preserved regions of Mato Grosso do Sul. Along the route, rock walls flank the river forming an impressive natural corridor. The surrounding vegetation is typical cerrado, with diverse bird, reptile, and mammal species visible along the trail.
The Rio Salobra's waters are clear, allowing you to observe underwater life during the duck section. Colorful fish schools and turtles are frequently spotted directly from the inflatable kayak, at water level.
📍 61 km from central Bonito · ⏱ 6 hours · Difficulty: moderate

The tour has two sequential phases: an overland trail and a river descent.
The journey begins with a hike along the trail leading to the canyon area. The route crosses cerrado vegetation, with opportunities to observe regional fauna and flora. Closed-toe shoes are required for this section.
The duck is the popular name for the inflatable kayak used on the Rio Salobra descent. Unlike a rigid conventional kayak, it is more stable and suitable for those without prior kayaking experience. In this stretch, canyon walls up to 70 meters high are visible on both sides, and underwater life can be followed through the river's clear water.
At the end of the route, the site offers parking, luggage storage, a rest area, restrooms, Wi-Fi, and a restaurant. Lunch and breakfast are already included in the package.
