The Craziest Monday in the World originated from Bar Pirata's simple desire to delight its customers. On January 5, 1987, when a lady from Fortaleza's high society decided to celebrate her birthday with friends at Bar Pirata, even though it was a Monday, Júlio Trindade, together with his team and characteristic enthusiasm, opened the doors of the establishment.
Inspired by the sound of forró played on vinyl records, cassette tapes, and turntables, the celebration quickly turned into a true party. In February of the same year, Mondays began to feature authentic forró pé-de-serra performed by the talented accordion player Azeitona. To make the celebration even greater, on June 12 a second band was added: Alta Tensão, led by singer Armando Telles, who is now the lead vocalist of Banda do Pirata.
Gradually, through word of mouth, the tradition of spending Monday nights at Pirata Bar was born—a place where the night becomes magical and only ends when the last "survivor" leaves the dance floor. The venue's reputation spread throughout Brazil and around the world, even being featured in The New York Times.
