Hotel Cabanas
Duration1 hr
On this tour, you need to stay fitted into the individual inner tube, with your torso steady, your legs following the flow of the water, and your arms helping with balance at every change in speed.
There is no shared raft: each person descends alone and feels in their body the difference between the calm stretches and the force of the rapids. Over 1,200 meters on the Formoso River, the route crosses three waterfalls and three rapids, always with two guides accompanying each group.
The difficulty is easy, but there is real water movement, so we recommend it for those who want adrenaline with safety and meet the minimum requirements of 5 years old, 115 cm in height, and 120 kg.

Hotel Cabanas is 7.9 km from downtown Bonito, with a drive of approximately 13 minutes. The property has more than 400,000 square meters of preserved natural spaces and is located between two rivers with clear water — the Formoso River is the setting for the descent. The structure welcomes both hotel guests and visitors taking standalone tours.
For families, it is worth knowing that the site has a children's playground. Children who do not meet the requirements for boia-cross can stay in the rest area under supervision while the rest of the group descends the river. There is free parking and lockers for dry belongings — a practical detail on the day of the activity.

The tour begins with a 300-meter trail along suspended walkways to the starting point on the Formoso River.
At the start, the guides explain how to position yourself in the inner tube and use your body to steer the route. The first stretch is for getting used to it: relatively calm water, time to adjust to the position. Soon after, the first rapid appears — faster water, a more unstable inner tube, and the need to maintain balance.
The full route is 1,200 meters, with three waterfalls and three stretches of rapids. The waterfalls work as points of adrenaline release: the water falls over those passing through, and the inner tube gains speed on the descent.
The rapids require attention to read the river and adjust your body. Between one point and another, there are calmer water stretches to catch your breath and look at the surrounding forest before the next drop.
At the end, the group returns to the hotel structure. There are changing rooms, showers, and a rest area. The snack bar and restaurant are available for those who want to eat after the tour — both paid separately. We recommend bringing cash, as some points of sale on site may not accept cards.

This tour works well for families with children aged 5 and older, groups of friends who want a shared activity without relying on physical conditioning, and travelers who have never done boia-cross before. The difficulty is easy, but there is real excitement in the waterfalls and rapids.
Those who are afraid of water or feel uncomfortable with the sensation of not controlling the direction may feel tension in the rapids. Knowing how to swim is not mandatory, but we recommend telling the consultant about any previous negative experience with water. The life jacket keeps the body at the surface, but emotional confidence makes a difference in enjoying the experience.
If the priority is adrenaline without high physical demand, this is one of the most balanced tours in Bonito. For those looking only for calm snorkeling/floating, however, we recommend evaluating other options — here there are real rapids and waterfalls.
The operation requires advance booking with a fixed time — it does not work on a first-come, first-served basis
Each participant descends in an individual inner tube — there is no shared raft option
Wear swimwear under your day clothes; there are changing rooms and showers on site
The hotel structure allows part of the group to take the tour while another part rests in the leisure area

"A very gratifying experience; this is the second time we have done Boia Cross and it is always very enjoyable. Trained and lively team. I will do it again if I come back here. After Boia Cross, there is still free access to two decks on the river to spend the day. It is worth trying."
— Nezio Noronha Dias Junior
